I work with an awesome group of people. I also work at a great company and work for a wonderful boss. How lucky am I? My team is very supportive of one another. We cheer each other’s victories and lament each other’s losses. We laugh like crazy and do a kick butt job as well. Half of the folks in our group are foodies. When it’s your birthday, you get to choose a restaurant and the group treats you to lunch. This month we had THREE birthdays. The ladies unanimously agreed to go to Nectar in Berwyn, PA.

Happy Birthday Chicas!!!!
Nectar serves Asian Fusion cuisine. It is a consistently well rated and well reviewed restaurant. I thought it would be fun to do a review of Nectar for my blog. Nectar has a terrific lunch menu. There is a choice of a $12.95 express lunch menu or you can order from the regular lunch menu. Our birthday lunch experience started with edamame, Cinderella pumpkin soup with a crisp goat cheese garnish and a baby greens salad topped with panko breaded goat cheese and a nectar vinaigrette. Miz A is a serious sashimi lover and ordered the Striped Bass.

Two of us had the pumpkin soup and it was smooth and luscious. The crisp goat cheese garnish was a nice surprise. The salad was wonderful. This is a small plate that I will attempt to recreate in a future post. The edamame was as expected but was accompanied by two dipping sauces. One was spicy and the second was a little sweeter. As we enjoyed our starters, we all noticed how much natural light was coming though the windows. The restaurant was bright and cheerful. It felt like the perfect place for a lunchtime celebration.

Three of the ladies were in the mood for Pad Thai. I wanted to try something different so I went for the wild boar noodle dish. Lady K chose the sushi. She loves sushi and fortunately, Nectar has a nice selection.

Wild Alaskan Salmon Roll

Chicken Pad Thai

Tuna Avocado Roll

Nectar Lo Mein with Smoked Wild Boar and Chinese Sausage

Shrimp Pad Thai
Our lunch selections were delivered in a timely manner. We all enjoyed them but I probably wouldn’t order the Nectar Lo Mein again. There are better choices on the menu.

We couldn’t end a birthday celebration without dessert. I ordered the fresh hot mini donuts with dipping sauces – spiced chocolate rum, raspberry vanilla and coffee caramel. The doughnuts were warm when they arrived at the table. Two of our birthday divas ordered peanut butter semifreddo. Our third birthday diva ordered a tasting trio of creme brulee – carrot cake, Tahitian vanilla bean and German chocolate. Miz A ordered a pumpkin ice cream sandwich made with a warm ginger snap cookie. It was served with a warm cider float. All of the desserts were FABULOUS but the pumpkin ice cream sandwich was my favorite.

After a birthday celebration that we won’t soon forget, we returned to the office smiling and content. We had a wonderful lunch at Nectar. If you live in the Philadelphia area and love Asian Fusion cuisine, Nectar is a must.

A Birthday Celebration to Remember!
